UNIVERSITY STUDENT GUNNED DOWN BY LDU

The local defense Unit officer has gunned down Ali Matovu a University student of Metropolitan international University-Namungoona Kampala branch.

Matovu was a student a student pursuing bachelors in education and was still in his first year first semester under the Faculty of education and humanities office.

Peter Magala a lecturer of Media and Human rights at Metropolitan international University confirmed the incident and clarified that Matovu was shoot while stealing University computers.

“The LDU officer is under police custody as police does its investigative work, but he did what he was supposed to do. That is to guard the University property” says Magala.

Meanwhile the UPDF Chief of Staff, Major General Joseph Musanyufu has admitted flaws in the Local Defense Unit (LDU) personnel who need more training.

This follows continued criticism by members of public over death by shooting involving LDU officers.

Major General Musanyufu says they are now extensively training LDU personnel and those who qualify will be integrated into the UPDF fully.

“ I urge members of the public to be cognizant of the contribution made by the LDU in ensuing security prevails especially in the city centers” General Musanyufu commends LDU.
