Michael Alinda aka Ziggy Wine, a known supporter of Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and his People Power Movement has finally died after days of torture by unknown people.

The deceased was kidnapped a couple of weeks back, beaten beyond recognition and his left eye plucked out by unknown people. Two of his fingers were cut off and all his belongings taken before dumping him in Mulago Hospital recently.

He passed on from Mulago hospital on Sunday evening where he has since been undergoing treatment.

Bobi Wine who has described the deceased’s last days on earth as “very painful” says Ziggy Wine has been a hard-working man. He said on Monday that him and others had visited the deceased’s family on Sunday night.

“Those who kidnapped him did to him the worst things a human being can do to another- cut off his fingers, plucked out his eye, grossly tortured him and left him to die a very painful death. Zigy was a solid member of the Firebase Crew. A hard-working young man, and strong supporter of PeoplePower,” wrote Wine on Facebook.

“Like many young Ugandans, he was looking forward to a better country. It is very painful that our brother had to go through this. Last night we visited the grieving family at Mulago and they are completely devastated,” he added.

The musician turned politician wondered how individuals who carry out such atrocities on the citizens of Uganda will pay back for the tears they have caused to so many families and communities. He however reiterated that Ziggy kidnap and subsequent torture is not an isolated incident.

“Friends, the state of our country is worrying. Zigy is just one of the countless people who are kidnapped, tortured and murdered daily in our nation. We receive reports of many supporters disappearing, while others have died in questionable ways, including suspicious accidents. As we mourn our brother, may we resolve to work even harder to redeem our country from this terror,” he said.

Following recovery of a weak Ziggy Wine at the entrance of Mulago hospital, Police said relatives were still fearing to report a case at police but even then, they (Police) were to follow up the matter.

Police spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga is later today expected to address the nation on the state of security in the country on during police’s weekly press conference. It is anticipated that Ziggy issue might as well be addressed.
