Stella Nyanzi arrested again
Controversial academician Dr. Stella Nyanzi has on Friday morning been arrested by police after attempting to access her office at Makerere University.
Sources at the oldest university in the country say Dr. Nyanzi has been whisked and detained at Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Kireka.
Last month, Makerere University was ordered to reinstate the suspended research fellow back to her office.
The staff appeals tribunal ordered the university to pay Dr Nyanzi her outstanding emoluments within ten working days after the ruling. Delivering the ruling, the tribunal chairperson George Omunyokol faulted the appointments board for failing to conduct Nyanzi’s disciplinary hearings within the statutory four weeks after suspension. Nyanzi was suspended on March 31, 2017.
However, the institution failed to abide by the order up to date.
