American adjudicators have found a former police officer guilty of murder over the death of African-American George Floyd on a Minneapolis street last year.
Derek Chauvin, 45-year-old was filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes during his arrest May last year.
The widely watched footage sparked worldwide protests against racism and excessive use of force by police.
Chauvin was found guilty on three charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter.
In Minnesota, second-degree murder carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, third-degree murder is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
Jack Rice, a lawyer in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St Paul appreciates what has been reached upon saying that it shows that police officers are not above the law.

Florida, U.S. Valdez Venita Demings an American politician and former police officer serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 10th congressional district since 2017 says the surge of hate crimes were increasing but now, no one will not take law into his or her hands.
Democratic Rep. Val Demings and Republican Rep. Jim Jordan had a heated exchange during a House Judiciary hearing after Jordan tried to cut Demings short as she spoke about law enforcement.
“I served as a law enforcement officer for 27 years. It is a tough job but good police officers deserve your support” adds Demings.
The Florida Democrat Demings said Law enforcement officers risk their lives every day and they deserve better.
