Parliament of Uganda has hailed Uganda Cranes Captain Denis Onyango who recently retired from international football after over 16 years of active service.

Onyango 35-year-old confirmed his retirement news in a statement, through his agent Ivica Stankovic, from South African base.

He is an active player with a South African football team known as Mamelodi Sundowns.

The speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga said during plenary that Onyango will be greatly remembered for his massive achievements to the sport fraternity.

Kadaga describes Onyango as an exemplary footballer who has diligently served his nation with one heart.

“Parliament at an appointed time will pay tribute to Onyango for being the 2016 African Footballer of the Year, Champions League winner, and three-time Caf XI goalkeeper who helped Uganda end a nearly four-decade absence from African Cup of Nations with a Gabon 2017 appearance” asserts speaker Kadaga.
