Former Arsenal Star Reyes Die In Car Crash
Former English Premier League aside and Spain star, Jose Antonio Reyes has passed on in a motor accident.
The news has been confirmed by Spanish side, Sevilla on Saturday morning in a tweet, saying: “We could not offer worse news. Our beloved squad member José Antonio Reyes died in a traffic accident. Rest in peace.”
Reyes, 35, was a graduate of Sevilla’s academy and spent two spells with the La Liga side, Arsenal signed the winger in 2004 for a fee of £17m.
Reyes arrived in the January transfer window and played a part in the club’s ‘Invincibles’ season where they went unbeaten during the 2003-04 campaign.
He also won the FA Cup the following year and was a Champions League runner-up in 2006 when the Gunners were beaten 2-1 by Barcelona.
Reyes’ was loaned to Real Madrid in 2006 before joining their neighbours Atletico on a permanent basis 12 months later.
After a temporary spell at Benfica, Reyes rejoined Sevilla in 2012.
