Cranes Leave For Abu Dhabi Ahead Of AFCON Tourney

A group of 14 Uganda Cranes players and the technical team have Monday left the country for Abu Dhabi, ahead of the continent’s biggest tournament, Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) slated for Egypt next year.
A statement by Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) indicate that team captain, Denis Onyango, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Joseph Ochaya, Timothy Awanyi, Godfrey Walusimbi, Patrick Kaddu, Mugabi Bevis, Muleme Isaac, Aucho Khalid, Taddeo Lwanga, Kyambadde Allan, Ibrahim Saddam Juma, Waisswa Moses, Murushid Juuko are part of the group which has left today.
”15 more players will fly to Abu Dhabi to join the group that started its journey from Kampala,” reads the statement.
The officials who have travelled with the team include Issa Magola as Leader of Delegation, the Head coach, Sebastien Desabre, Assistant coach, Mathias Lule, Goalkeeper coach, Fred Kajoba, Team Doctor, Ronald Kisolo, Physiotherapist, Ivan Ssewanyana, Media Officer, Ahmed Hussein, Physical Fitness trainer, Jerome D’Antonio and Kit Managers, Lawrence Kizito and Ayub Balyejus.
Cranes is set to have two friendly games with some of the countries which qualified for the tournament including Ivory Coast.
The tournament will run from June 21 to July 19 and Uganda is in group A alongside Zimbabwe, Egypt and DRC.
