SACCO leaders operating from the central areas are calling upon the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to look into the issue of giving them money so that they can boost their Members energy.
These are saying that their business were equally affected by COVID-19 to the extent of completely closing their work places.
Chairman of Uzuri Savings credit cooperative society Ltd Sacco Sulaiman Kiggundu says its sad for a minister to come out and say that saccos nolonger operate yet people at the ground level are benefiting from them.
“Kigundu adds that it is surprisingfor a minister to come out and starts saying that 65 SACCOs in Kawempe, 72 SACCO in Makindye among other divisions are not functioning yet he got information from wrong people”.
It’s upon reaching out to the leaders that is when one can get real informationother than using assumptions, Kigundu surmons.
He says that minister Haruna Kasolo recently came out in wide open and stated that a number of saccos are not operating a statement that was not true.
After being affected by the pendamic they are calling for the new initiative to boost the business in central.
Kigundu says that the new formats of Emyoga and Parish modal can not work in Kampala since people deal in various businesses.
Muhammad issa Mugumbu also leader under A-Hamuza Sacco that houses mosley at around old Kampala says that they are now facing a challenge of funds since lockdown has also affected them.
